Anticoagulation Europe (UK)
Anticoagulation Europe (UK) is a registered Charity committed to the prevention of thrombosis and support for people already receiving anticoagulant and anti-platelet therapy. Apart from their web-site which is full of information, they also have a quarterly magazine, leaflets and fact sheets. They give support and advice to all patients, their families and carers on all aspects of anticoagulation therapy.
They campaign for excellence and equity of provision of healthcare; they have an advisory panel of leading experts to help them do this.
Anticoagulation believes there is a need for more patient information for people on oral anticoagulation therapy. People need more help in obtaining the information they need. The charity was formed to enable people to access advice, information and support that up to now may have been difficult to find.
Their web-site at www.anticoagulationeurope.org tells you everything you need to know, if you take Warfarin or another anticoagulant, if you have suffered a DVT or Atrial Fibrillation. You may want to join their membership and if you do you will be offered the two types of membership, one of which included a MediPAL card, which is designed to display the Charities Logo. MediPAL have been working with them since 2005 and Anticoagulation has thousands of members who have taken up the offer.
They can be contacted by phone on 020 8289 6875, by email at anticoagulation@ntlworld.com, or by post at Anticoagulation Europe, PO. Box 405, Bromley, Kent. BR2 9WP.

Hughes Syndrome Foundation
Hughes Syndrome Foundation is a UK registered charity dedicated to promoting awareness and funding research into Hughes Syndrome which is also known medically as the Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS).
Hughes Syndrome is an autoimmune disorder which can present many clinical features, some of which can be life threatening, including strokes and thrombosis, and it can also be the cause of recurrent miscarriage. The good news is that, once diagnosed, Hughes Syndrome is potentially treatable; the bad news is that, as the condition is relatively new, it often goes undetected or misdiagnosed. With your help we hope to raise the profile of Hughes Syndrome so that we can discover more about its causes, prevalence and treatment.
The Charity offers support to sufferers of Hughes Syndrome. Their web site is full of information about the disease and the Charity.
MediPAL are working with the Hughes Syndrome Charity by offering MediPAL as part of their membership. It has proved to be very popular.
