Living with a medical condition — or caring for someone who does — can sometimes mean needing information, advice or support beyond your GP or hospital.
The MediPAL Resource Centre brings together trusted charities and organisations that provide information and support for people living with a range of medical conditions, as well as their families and carers.
Whether you're looking for help following a stroke, information about diabetes, epilepsy, dementia, heart conditions, PMR or other health concerns, the links below are a useful place to start.

Stroke
Stroke Association
The Stroke Association provides information, practical advice and support for people affected by stroke, including stroke survivors, families and carers. Its website covers recovery, communication difficulties, life after stroke and finding local support.
Different Strokes
A UK charity supporting younger stroke survivors and their families, with information, personal experiences and opportunities to connect with other people affected by stroke.
This section is particularly appropriate for MediPAL because stroke can sometimes affect a person's speech or ability to communicate important medical information.

Diabetes
Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK provides information, advice and support for people living with diabetes, as well as their families and carers. Resources include a helpline, local support groups and practical information about living with diabetes.

An online diabetes community and information resource covering Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, diet, treatments and living with diabetes.

People living with diabetes may need to keep information about their condition, medication or insulin readily available, particularly when away from home.
Epilepsy
Epilepsy Action
Epilepsy Action provides information and support for people affected by epilepsy, including advice about seizures, treatment, safety, driving and everyday life. It also provides a helpline, peer support and support groups.
Having important medical information readily available can be particularly useful for people with conditions that may temporarily affect their ability to communicate.
Dementia & Memory
Alzheimer's Society
Alzheimer's Society provides information, advice and support for people affected by dementia, their families and carers, including a Dementia Support Line and online community.
Dementia UK
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity. Its Admiral Nurses provide information, practical guidance and support to people living with dementia and their families.
Heart & Circulatory Conditions
British Heart Foundation
The British Heart Foundation provides information and support relating to heart and circulatory conditions, including heart attacks, heart surgery, medication and living with a heart condition.

Walsall Heartcare
Walsall Heartcare is a local charity helping people with heart and circulatory conditions, chronic lung disease and other long-term health conditions. It provides rehabilitation, exercise and support to help people manage their health and wellbeing. Register of Charities

PMR & GCA
PMRGCAuk
PMRGCAuk provides information and support for people affected by polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA), as well as their families and carers.
PMR and GCA can involve ongoing treatment and medication, making clear and accessible medical information particularly useful.
Brain Injury
Headway– the brain injury association
Headway provides information and support for people affected by acquired brain injury, including survivors, families and carers. Its services include a helpline, local support and extensive information about living with the effects of brain injury. Headway notes that stroke is one possible cause of acquired brain injury. Bipolar UK
Bipolar UK is a national charity dedicated to supporting people affected by bipolar. It provides information and resources, peer-support groups, one-to-one support and an online community for people living with bipolar and their families and friends.
